Finance

I did this to refer back to when making my film poster. It will help me decide which type of finance to use and which would be best suited to me. I evaluated the meanings of each type of finance and which I would be able to use. I chose self finance and evaluated the pro's and cons.

From looking at the pros and cons, I decided that this was definatley the best one for me to use as I will not be working on a project that will be requiring a lot of money so it would be easier to use my own money.

Clarendon News report

For this part of my media work, I have created a news report based on the opening of the new college. This activity let me work on my editing skills using premier pro as I have never used it before. It has also helped me practice my filming skills and using the DLSR.
I think I did well on the editing of this piece of work as it was my first time using the editing software. I think that the actual filming process could be improved by using a microphone to get clearer sound and use a tripod to make the camera more steady so it doesnt shake.

I decided to include interviews in my piece of work as people will be interested in other peoples opinnons on the new building to compare tot heir own. I found this out becuase I did a survey poll to see what people would like to see in this piece of work.

Clarendon news poll results

My results form my poll show that people would like to see:
1) interviews with students
2)sports report
3)weather report

From my findings, I am going to do the top 3 things that people would like to see in my work.

Research and planning

I did some research to see what stages are needed to complete research and planning and put a description of what each aspect involves. I did this to help me when I carry out tasks like the music video I will be creating. It will speed up the process alot and I will be aware of all the necessary steps before I start my filming etc.

Media job roles

I decided to look what job roles films and soap operas have in the closing titles and how they differ to each other. In general, the roles do not differ that much but they are just in different orders.
Films tend to have more complex roles than soap operas as they are more technical. For example, they have dialogue directors.

Comparing British and American films

We compared British and American films and how much they differ in terms of their budget and how much they cost to make. My findings were that in this case the English film cost more than the American film. Normally English films cost a lot less as they are not on as big of a scale as American films, whereas in this case the English film was estimated to cost £121,000,000 more. Usually English films aren't as successful as American films as they don't have as high of a budget. Although this is true, on some occasions English films with loweer bidgets are very succesful like 'The Bridget Jones Diarys'.
